Iran’s top diplomat, who has traveled to New York to attend the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, held talks with the foreign minister of Venezuela on Saturday.
During the talks, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the stable and good relations between the two countries and emphasized the shared determination of the high-ranking officials of the two nations to strengthen relations in all fields.
The two top Iranian and Venezuelan diplomats also reviewed regional developments, including in the Caribbean and West Asia, and warned of the dangers of promoting unilateralism and lawlessness by the United States and some of its allies.
Referring to the US interventionist policy in the Caribbean region, the Iranian foreign minister condemned the threat to the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela and expressed solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela.
Venezuelan foreign minister, for his part, emphasized right of all member states of the Non-Proliferation Treaty to benefit from peaceful nuclear energy, and condemned the pressures and threats of the United States and some European countries against Iran.
Pinto described the misuse of the UN Security Council as a tool to exert pressure on Iran as a fatal blow to the credibility and status of the United Nations.
The two foreign ministers also strongly condemned the genocide and killings in Gaza, which continue with the complicity and direct involvement of the United States, and considered the Zionist regime's impunity an urgent threat to international peace and security, and called for immediate action by the international community to stop the genocide and prosecute and punish the criminals and their supporters.
